The Grenfell Henry Lawson Festival Art Coordinators are pleased to announce this years judge for the Art Competition is Brian Langer.
Brian Langer is the Director of the Cowra Regional Art Gallery a position he has held since 2008. During the past 30 years he has collaborated as a curator with many leading artists in Australia and overseas to present a diverse range of exhibitions and art projects and publish an array exhibition catalogues. He also established an international video art collection at the Queensland Art Gallery.
After graduating, with a BA and postgraduate studies in Sculpture and Gallery Management he worked as a consultant curator and Director of the Australian International Video Festival for 6 years before being appointed Director of the Manning Regional Gallery from 1996 to 1998. He was Director of the Tamworth Regional Gallery from 1998 to 2006 and exhibition manager for four Tamworth Fibre Textile Biennial’s and touring exhibitions for contemporary Australian textiles and fibre art.
He has served on the boards of the Regional and Public Galleries Association of NSW and Arts OutWest, and has been the recipient of an Australia Council grant to curate an exhibition of Australian video art at the Tate Museum, Liverpool, UK in the mid 1980s.
