Festival Queen & King

2016 Festival Queen & Charity Queen WinnersThe Festival Queen & King Competition is a long running part of the festival program. For 2017 there are Queen's and Princesses. The competition is an opportunity for local clubs to fundraise for their cause and it is also an opportunity for local residents to practice skills such as public speaking and to showcase their knowledge and skills to the community and festival attendee’s audience.

Over the years many thousands of dollars have been raised by the competition. There are two crowns awarded at the festival, the Charity Queen/King which is for the candidate and their organisation who raises the most money in the lead up to the festival and the Festival Queen/King which is judged on general presentation and knowledge of Grenfell and the Festival’s history.

The candidates will attend various events over the festival and can be identified by their sashes and rosettes.

The 2017 candidates are:

  • Francesca Nolan and Daisy McMahon (Grenfell Public School)
  • Grace Kelly and Adelaide Nowlan (Grenfell Lions Club)
  • Emily Cartwright and Xanthe Johnson (Grenfell Bowling Club)
  • Vanessa Knight and Delilah Griffin (THLHS)
  • Rachel Gillard (Grenfell MPS)
