The Children’s Art Competition is open to students from schools within the Weddin Shire including Grenfell and the surrounding villages of Greenethorpe, Caragabal, Quandialla, Bribbaree and Monteagle . Children’s art is used to decorate shop windows in Grenfell’s Main Street.
As you would be aware this year is Henry Lawson's 150th birthday. To celebrate we will have an imaginary Birthday Party, inviting characters from Australian Literature to join Henry.
Students will be able to choose their favourite character from any Australian story or poem and on an A-3 page. K,1,2 Create a picture of that character with its name clearly printed on the front. Years 3-6 Name the character and author of the story/ poem write a short description ( 2 or 3 paragraphs) and illustrate.

- K,1,2 - Drawing, painting or 2-D collage in any medium of a character from your favourite Australian story or poem. Be sure to write your character’s name on the front.
- Years 3 to 6 - Choose a character from your favourite Australian story or poem. Describe your character in 2 or 3 paragraphs and illustrate. Be imaginative in your setting out on an A-3 page.
Medium: Any 2D eg. pencil, crayon, texta, charcoal, pen and ink, drawing, painting or collage.
Maximum Size: A3
